This sogi (scraped design) pot is characterized by its plump body with a short spout, and the delicate crackle lines called “sumi-kannyu” extending across the surface of the pot.

The “kannyu” is created by the difference in shrinkage between the glaze and the clay during firing. Then, the sumi ink is soaked into these cracks, creating a delicate pattern.

The size of the pot is which that fits comfortably in the palms of both hands. With curvy and round forms, this item gives a lovely impression.

As the pot is used over time, the lines of “kannyu” may increase and the tea pigments seep through. Its texture may change gradually but we hope you will enjoy the beauty of its aging process.
