Nankei Pottery・Teppatsu Style Bowl with Lid
£42
"Teppatsu" is a type of bowl used by monks to receive food at almsgiving ceremonies since ancient times. This bowl has flat bottom with wide mouth and the rim turned inside. Made of unglazed, matte-textured “kuro-neri” clay, the bowl fits comfortably in the palm of the hand.
The perfect fitting of the lid and body is made possible by an extremely sensitive grinding process. As result they are airtight and moisture does not enter. You can store tea leaves, dried herbs, spices, salt or candies.
With a petite but dignified appearance, the pot is perfect for incense too. We offer an incense stand made of the same clay (sold separately) you can place inside with your favorite incense stick. The highly viscous ceramic clay is baked at a high temperature, so it does not absorb water and leaves no scent.
The pot can be used for a variety of purposes. There is also a joy in contemplating how to use it.
