Nankei Pottery・Acorn-shaped Dobin Teapot with Brass Handle / Nanban
£94
Tall and large in capacity, this dobin (clay-pot) has a dignified and dependable appearance. The pot is not glazed which gives a rough texture of clay. With the brass handle above the body, this item has a unique charm of mixing the contrasting materials.
Over time and use, the brass handle change its color to take on a more subdued feel.
The built-in tea strainer is dome-shaped and made of the same clay as the dobin pot itself. After creating its dome shape, the artisan meticulously hand-punches holes one by one. The size of the tea strainer holes are precisely designed to catch the tea leaves firmly and to allow the tiny leaves with good flavor to pass through, so you can brew a delicious cup of tea.
The tall height allows tea leaves to spread out comfortably, making it suitable for Japanese and black teas as well. Because the highly viscous ceramic clay is fired at high temperatures, it does not absorb water and leaves no scent. A wide variety of tea leaves can be enjoyed.
The handle is removable but does not tilt when in use. Please be careful when pouring hot water from directly above.
